Popular fast casual restaurant offers vegan gyro and falafel with plans to serve other alternatives soon
Known for its authentic Greek and Mediterranean cuisine that fans can enjoy without having to buy a plane ticket, Apóla Greek Grill offers many flavorful dishes with something for everyone including new meatless options.
CEO and Co-Founder of Apóla Greek Grill, Yianni Kosmides and his brother Stefano, give up any products that contain dairy and other animal related ingredients every year in observance of Greek Orthodox lent. With this ongoing personal tradition along with the increasing desires from customers to find healthier nonmeat alternatives, Apóla has created a meatless gyro and falafel that fulfills everyone’s dietary preferences without losing the authentic Greek flavors.
“At Apóla, we’re passionate about serving authentic Greek meals that are both flavorful and satisfy the dietary needs of our everchanging world and clientele,” said Kosmides. “Our fans love our gyro and falafel, so we’re excited to provide meatless options for our loyal customers to try out as a healthier choice and to attract a new community of fans.”
The Meatless Gyro is vegan, plant-based, soy-free, non-GMO, cruelty free, non-gluten and made without conservatives. The meatless gyro is a perfect pair to the classic pita sandwich Apóla Style or just on a bowl over some Greek lemon butter rice and creamy tzatziki. The completely vegan option would be to pair it with hummus or a thick garlic spread.
The Falafel is vegan, non-gluten, Mediterranean patty made from a blend of chickpeas, fresh herbs and spices. It goes along with just about everything from a side of garlic spread, hummus or spicy hummus so fans can’t really go wrong.
Both the meatless gyro and falafel are now available to order. Moving forward, Apóla is working on adding some other alternatives to the menu with the current ideas being a grilled portobello or some grilled haloumi skewers which is a savory Greek cheese that has a golden brown, crispy exterior with a gooey, soft interior.
“Falafel has always been a strong staple of our menu but has grown even more in popularity with the growth in demand for more meatless options,” Kosmides added. “We’re planning on creating more vegan options soon and hope to continue making a name for Greek cuisine in the food industry.”
Apóla Greek Grill is a fast-casual brand that currently has locations in Irvine, Yorba Linda, Anaheim, and Riverside with one more location coming soon in Southern California. Authentic Greek cuisine is an under-represented category in the food industry, but the Kosmides brothers have steadily grown Apóla’s presence in the SoCal area. Apóla serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert and truly has something for everyone from classic gyros featuring chicken, pork, beef and lamb, or shrimp along with delicious sides including fries, soup and salads. Now, the brand offers gluten free, vegan, and meatless options.
Apóla Greek Grill has been featured in locally in The Los Angeles Herald and California Telegraph, and on the lifestyle TV show “This is LA.” The emerging restaurant was ranked 5th in Fast Casual’s “Brands to Watch” in 2021.
