Wisconsin-based Cousins Subs is debuting two brand new subs that celebrate its Midwestern heritage and a natural fondness for brats and cheese. Available at all Cousins Subs locations beginning today, the Wisconsin Steak and Brat, and the Wisconsin Cheesy Chicken will be on the menu until the beginning of October.
The perfect finale to the summer grilling season, the Wisconsin Steak and Brat features thinly sliced steak and bratwurst along with Cheddar cheese and sautéed green peppers and onions. A cheesehead’s dream, the Wisconsin Cheesy Chicken features juicy chicken breast, a generous serving of American cheese and sautéed green peppers and onions.
The two limited time offerings join a menu that already includes the classic Italian cold cut subs and hot subs, featuring the famous Cheese Steak line. The hearty 7-½ inch sandwiches will be built on the same fresh, baked-daily bread for which Cousins Subs is known.
“It’s hard to deny the power of a juicy brat or Wisconsin cheese. These two subs are some of the tastiest combinations we’ve brought to the table,” says Justin McCoy, vice president of marketing at Cousins Subs. “We’re proud of our Midwestern heritage and can’t wait to hear how consumers around the country respond.”
In 1972, Bill Specht and his cousin opened the first Cousins Subs Shop in Milwaukee to curb a hankering for their favorite East Coast subs. Their handcrafted, deli-style subs eventually stirred a hungry fan base who especially loved Cousins’ secret recipe for freshly baked bread with the perfect amount of crunch in the crust. This bread eventually became the cornerstone for their Better Bread. Better Subs. positioning. Celebrating its 40th anniversary as a family-owned business in 2012, Cousins Subs and its franchisees now operate approximately 150 stores in six states and are embarking on an expansion plan.
