Its Nearly 200 Restaurants Will Transition to Cage-Free Eggs Over the Next Five Years
CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries, Inc., the largest craft brewery restaurant operator in the country, announced today that its nearly 200 restaurants will fully transition to serving cage-free eggs by 2022. Its core brands — Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurants, and Rock Bottom Restaurants & Breweries – are committed to making the transition to cage-free eggs over the next five years.
“We are excited to join other restaurant companies and transition our egg supply to certified cage-free hen houses,” said Stan Frankenthaler, Chief Officer of Food, Beverage and Strategic Supply for CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries. “We understand how important this has become to our guests and are committed to the use of cage-free eggs. This still enables us to deliver the same quality, made-from-scratch food that we serve our guests in our restaurants everyday.”
Based on growing consumer demand and industry trends, many restaurants are transitioning to cage-free eggs over the next decade. CraftWorks will work with suppliers to complete a 100 percent transition in its U.S. restaurants, which use approximately 2.5 million eggs a year.
“This transition won’t happen overnight, but we’ll work diligently over the next few years to source the eggs and reach our goals as a company,” added Frankenthaler. “It’s the right decision for CraftWorks, as we are always looking to serve the interests of our guests and continue to operate as a leader and innovator in the casual dining segment.”
