Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Arcadia on April 4. Franchise owner Vana Mehrabian held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, April 4 to Sunday, April 8 to support Baldwin Stocker Elementary, Holly Avenue Elementary, and Hugo Reid Elementary schools.
The new restaurant, located at 400 S. Baldwin Avenue, circulated 7,500 coupons throughout the community. The coupons offered a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Baldwin Stocker Elementary, Holly Avenue Elementary, and Hugo Reid Elementary schools. Mehrabian added extra incentive to his fundraiser by introducing the element of competition. The Arcadia team distributed custom flyers with multiple offers to each participating school. For every flyer coupon redeemed at the Jersey Mike’s Subs of Arcadia, Jersey Mike’s donated $1 to the respective school. In addition, the school that redeemed the most coupons by April 8 received an additional $2,000.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.
Vana Mehrabian exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“Being in the Jersey Mike’s family for nearly two years, I have had many great experiences with giving back to the community. I have seen firsthand how it can make a difference in many lives,” said Mehrabian. “I enjoy doing local school fundraising and supporting organizations that we feel strongly about. In California, the school systems are being affected by budget cuts and I believe offsetting those cuts is where we can help the most.”
Passionate Jersey Mike’s fans crave their subs made Mike’s Way with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike’s more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
This is the second Jersey Mike’s location for Vana Mehrabian. In May 2010, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s location in Monrovia.
