Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Coon Rapids on April 18. Franchise owners John Griparis and Jeff Berns held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, April 18 to Sunday, April 22 to support Coon Rapids High School, Anoka High School, Coon Rapids Middle School and Sand Creek Elementary School.
The new restaurant, located at 3473 River Rapids Drive NW, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community, which offered a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Coon Rapids High School, Anoka High School, Coon Rapids Middle School and Sand Creek Elementary School. To add the element of competition, Griparis and Berns also provided each school with “Free Chip and Drink” coupons (with purchase of any sub). The coupons were redeemed from Monday, April 23 through Sunday, April 29. For each coupon turned in, $1 was donated. Jersey Mike’s matched the earned amount for the school with the greatest participation, relative to its enrollment size.
