Gipsee, a leading provider of interactive, customized nutrition and allergen solutions for restaurants, has developed proprietary Alternate Suggestive Technology (AST) that helps restaurants identify and suggest menu items that may be safe for guests to eat with minor modifications.
Gipsee’s AST technology is part of their cloud-based platform that fuels a dynamic, web-based consumer-facing application. The diner selects the allergens they need to avoid and, with the touch of a button, the menu items that are safe to eat are displayed. In addition to displaying items that may be “safe to eat” , the AST suggests menu items that are “safe to eat with minor modifications.”
“Restaurants often find they only have a few options to provide to their guests when menu items are prepared and served according to the standardized recipe,” says Dilip Chopra cofounder of Gipsee. “Our AST technology is able to multiply the number of acceptable items the diner can eat, which ultimately leads to better customer satisfaction and has the potential to increase sales for the restaurant.”
On an average, the AST technology increases the number of options available for guests with food restrictions by over 70%. Examples include being able to remove the wheat allergen from a salad by serving it without croutons, removing the egg allergen from a burger by serving it without a particular sauce or, making tortilla soup safe for a customer with a milk allergy by serving it without the dollop of sour cream and sprinkle of cheese on top.
“These small changes are sometimes difficult for the operator to identify and nearly impossible to express on a printed allergen chart,” says Atul Ahuja, co-founder of Gipsee. “Our platform was designed to help the restaurant identify potential modifications and communicate those options in a way that is easy for the consumer to understand at the point of ordering.”
Gipsee’s platform and AST technology is used by several national restaurant chains including Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, who has been consistently voted by AllergyEats diners as one of the “Top 10 Most Allergy-Friendly Restaurant Chains in America” for the past four years. Over 3 million diners regularly rely on Gipsee’s technology to find out safe dining options at restaurants.
Gipsee, Inc. was co-founded by Dilip Chopra and Atul Ahuja based on personal experiences with the challenges of eating outside the home with food allergies. Gipsee’s nutrition and allergen solutions have won multiple industry and press accolades. Gipsee’s cloud-based platform was designed to do more than just display information for consumers. The platform was also built with the operator in mind – helping them analyze, organize and report nutrition and allergen information.
