Hickory Tavern Temporarily Renames Boneless Chicken Wings "Clipped Wings" for Its Hometown Team's Quest for the Big GameOne set of birds’ wings clipped, one more to go.

Hickory Tavern, with 13 restaurants within a 30-minute drive from Bank of America stadium, today officially announced it has temporarily renamed its boneless chicken wings “Clipped Wings” in honor of the Carolinas’ favorite football team defeating one set of birds from Seattle and needing to beat another set of birds from Arizona in order to reach the championship game.

Last week, Hickory Tavern renamed one of its best-selling cocktails “The Victory Potion,” a recipe that worked. The Victory Potion – previously known as the Schmekel, the cocktail, which contains a shot including Bacardi 151 Rum, Blue Curacao Liqueur, Vodka and a Maraschino Cherry, is a Boilermaker kind of drink where the shot is dropped into a pint glass full of Red Bull. And, yes, the cocktail is colored TEAL.

“The Victory Potion worked this past Sunday but we felt like we need a little extra edge heading into this week’s game. We clipped the Seahawks and need to clip the Cardinals to get to the Super Bowl so we decided to rename one of our most popular football watching menu items, boneless chicken wings, ‘Clipped Wings’ to support the Panthers even more,” said Hickory Tavern CMO Thom Perez. “As we prove every week, there is no place in town with more Panthers passion than Hickory Tavern and what could be better than eating Clipped Wings smothered in Panthers sauce, now the name of our hottest wing sauce, while enjoying The Victory Potion cocktail. It simply doesn’t get more Panthers than that.”
