For Panther fans looking to get the Big Game party started early, Charlotte-based Hickory Tavern, a family-friendly restaurant with a sports passion, says a little dab will do ya.
With its charismatic quarterback, who proudly dons a #1 jersey, ready to lead the Carolinas’ favorite football team in the 50th version of the Big Game, Hickory Tavern will host a Panther Pre-Game party on Saturday, February 6 from 1 – 5:00 pm and featuring, what else, The Dab Burger, priced at $1.50 at its 13 Charlotte-area Hickory Tavern locations.
The Dab Burger features an extra dab of mustard in order to honor the quarterback who has more fun celebrating first downs, touchdowns and wins than anyone in the league.
The Dab itself, known as dabbin,’ is a dance in which the dancer simultaneously drops his or her head while raising an arm, briefly resting the face inside the elbow in a gesture that has been noted to resemble proper sneeze etiquette. It has caught the world by storm during Carolina’s playoff run and its quarterback’s MVP-worthy season in which he does the dance following his touchdowns.
“The Dab Burger is our nod to Cam, our hometown team and to the Carolina fans that chose Hickory Tavern to watch the game every week,” said Hickory Tavern CMO Thom Perez. “We expect to be packed during the Big Game but wanted to reward our fans with a big discount on a great burger the day before the game. We’re getting the Panther party started early!”
Heading into the playoffs, Hickory Tavern renamed one of its best-selling cocktails “The Victory Potion,” a recipe that has worked twice and is staying on the menu through the Big Game. The Victory Potion is a cocktail which contains a shot including Bacardi 151 Rum, Blue Curacao Liqueur, Vodka and a Maraschino Cherry. It’s a Boilermaker kind of drink where the shot is dropped into a pint glass full of Red Bull. And, yes, the cocktail is colored TEAL, just like its favorite team.
The family neighborhood restaurant with a sports passion followed that last week by renaming its boneless chicken wings “Clipped Wings” as the team dismantled teams from Seattle and Arizona, both named after birds, in order to reach the upcoming championship game.
“As we’ve proved every Gameday for years, there is no place in town with more Panthers passion than Hickory Tavern,” continued Perez. “We know Super Sunday will be packed and we’ve got an unbeatable special for our guests on that day as well. Enjoying The Dab Burger for $1.50 on the day before the game will be the perfect prelude to a championship for the Queen City.”
On Gameday itself, Hickory Tavern is featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet for $35 starting at 4 pm. Reservations are available. Of course, there will be beer specials throughout the game. The first 200 guests at all locations will receive commemorative koozies.
