Even with the college basketball games in Arizona, all eyes will be on the Carolinas this Saturday as the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks make up two of the final four teams. And the region’s favorite sports bar is READY!
Hickory Tavern, the neighborhood social gathering spot with 24 locations in the Carolinas, is making the where to watch the games question the biggest no-brainer in the history of sports. With nearly 1200 big screens in its North and South Carolina restaurants, the brand is hosting the Carolinas’ largest watch party all day on Saturday, April 1 and this party is anything but a joke: every guest who sports any type of Gamecock or Tar Heel gear will be treated to FREE Chips & Salsa.
And since everyone is a winner at Hickory Tavern, the restaurant brand has resurrected The Victory Potion, perfect for celebrating both teams. The drink, which has been renamed for a day and one that normally is called a Schmekel, contains a shot including Bacardi 151 Rum, Blue Curacao Liqueur, Vodka and a Maraschino Cherry. It’s a boiler-maker kind of drink where the shot is dropped into a pint glass full of Red Bull. The cocktail helped spur the Carolinas’ favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers, to the Super Bowl in 2015.
