High Five Maryland - Pie Five Celebrates 50th Opening in Baltimore This WeekFeeling crustworthy?  On Friday, June 5, Baltimore will experience Pie-topia when Pie Five Pizza Co. opens its 50th location at the corner of Governor Ritchie Highway and Ordnance Road.  Doors open at 11:00 a.m. This will be the second location for the local franchise owner, Jeff Mengel and the fourth location in Maryland. Mengel will be giving half of all proceeds from preopening events during the week to The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland.

“Pie Five is on fire in the Baltimore area,” said Mengel. “Our pizza fans love eating our handcrafted, personalized pizzas using only the freshest ingredients, baked to order at one great price — The ‘five’ in Pie Five means it all happens in five minutes or less!”

The unique Pie Five model allows patrons to top their pizzas any way they want for the low price of $6.99, cooked in 145 seconds in a custom-designed, state-of-the-art oven. By the time the guest arrives at the register, their hot, bubbly, pizza perfection is ready. And whether they select from one of Pie Five’s specialty recipes or create their own, it’s all the same great price. There are millions of possible pizza combinations Pie Five customers can create with four crusts (including artisan thin, classic pan, whole wheat grain Neapolitan and gluten-free), seven sauces and 28 fresh toppings. Additionally, they can add one of Pie Five’s freshly-tossed hand-made salads served in a baked pizza dough bowl or a decadent home-baked brownie or cookie pie.

High Five Maryland - Pie Five Celebrates 50th Opening in Baltimore This WeekMengel first brought the trend-setting pizza concept to Baltimore last October in Owings Mills. Over the next 5 years, he plans to open at least 10 more locations with the next one slated to open early Fall in Ellicott City. Mengel previously helped introduce Five Guys Burgers and Fries to the area. Mengel and his team are donating half of their sales from preopening events to the Living Legacy Foundation, a Baltimore-based organization that facilitates the donation and recovery of human organs and tissues for transplantation and research. The cause is personal to Mengel, whose father-in-law was a lung-transplant recipient and was actively involved with the foundation.

The new Governors Plaza location is at located at 6653A Governor Ritchie Hwy and will be the 50th location for the Dallas-based Pie Five brand. Pie Five operates in 14 states and District of Columbia with more than 400 announced company-owned and franchise units in development.  They were recently named #3 on FastCasual.com Movers and Shakers list out of all fast causal restaurant chains.
