The Long Beach Inaugural Oktoberfest will take place over two weekends in October at the Scottish Rite Event and Cultural Center.

It’s time to pull out the beer steins and Lederhosen in preparation for Long Beach’s inaugural Oktoberfest festival! The six day event, centered around German beer and merriment, will be taking place over two weekends October 22-24 and Oct 29-31 at the Scottish Rite Event and Cultural Center (855 Elm Street). Festivities, which will celebrate authentic German culture and Oktoberfest traditions, will include live music and performances by the world-famous Festmeister Hans und Die Sauerkrauts band, German games, contests, and more.

“We have been fans of Festmeister Hans und Die Sauerkrauts band for nearly 20 years, when they were at the popular Alpine Village Oktoberfest,” said LB Oktoberfest co-founders and event organizers. “Since discontinuing their annual celebration, we have dreamed of bringing an authentic Oktoberfest celebration to our hometown of Long Beach. We feel honored to have the opportunity to kick off the next highly-anticipated SoCal Oktoberfest this fall, and we look forward to continuing the tradition annually for many years to come!”

Taking place outdoors under a massive 8000 sq foot tent, the venue will boast a biergarten-style set up and large stage for entertainment. Food and beverage selections include wine, German beers Paulaner Festbier and Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier, and food will be available for additional purchase. Guests can expect an assortment of traditional Bavarian specialties such as bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, cabbage, soft pretzels, and more, with several German-inspired vegan options.

Over the course of the six days, more than 6000 attendees are expected, and guests are highly encouraged to dress up and don Lederhosen or Dirndl in Bavaria Oktoberfest theme. Tickets are now available for purchase through Eventbrite, and both general admission ($20) and VIP tickets ($125) are offered. VIP tickets include entry, guaranteed seat for entertainment within the first few rows, (1) official LB Oktoberfest stein, one plate of food (vegan option available), and hosted beer/wine. Friday and Saturday events are 21+ from 5pm-10pm. Sunday events invite all ages from 12pm-5pm.

Modeled after the traditional Oktoberfest celebration in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, Long Beach Oktoberfest was conceived in 2021 by the masterminds and Long Beach bar owners behind culturally experiential restaurant and bar, The Bamboo Club; Jim Ritson (formerly of 4th Street Vine and Ya Sabes), Brett Gallo (Stache Bar and Sideburns) and Erick Verduzco. The Long Beach Oktoberfest serves to deliver another culturally-rich German experience to the Southern California community annually.
