Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Longview on September 19. Franchise owners Bryan Selden and Jeff Worthen held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, September 19 to Sunday, September 23 to support Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
The new restaurant, located at 3312 N. Fourth Street, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community, offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to CASA.
The National CASA Association is a network of 946 programs that are recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courtroom and other settings. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they will not get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.
Bryan Selden and Jeff Worthen exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“The mission statement at CASA, ‘making a difference in the lives of children,’ aligns completely with our core values at Jersey Mike’s” said Selden. “CASA gives hope for a brighter future for children who have suffered unimaginable circumstances and we could not think of a more worthy cause to support. We are pleased to be opening our second location in Longview and we are grateful for the friends we have already made here.”
Passionate Jersey Mike’s fans crave their subs made Mike’s Way with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. Unlike its pre-sliced competition, the company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike’s more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (903) 663-3362.
