Long John Silver’s, the nation’s largest quick-service seafood chain, announced Angela Sanders as Chief Marketing Officer. Sanders’ hire signals a focus on brand innovation and growth following a recently unveiled new brand logo and six consecutive quarters of same store sales growth.
In this role, Sanders will be responsible for leading the marketing team and developing the strategic voice and direction of the brand. She will report to James O’Reilly, Chief Executive officer, and will also work closely with the Franchise Advisory Board.
“Long John Silver’s is beginning a new chapter,” said James O’Reilly, Long John Silver’s CEO. “Angela is a seasoned marketer who can lead the charge to tell our brand story as we evolve, while respecting the heritage of this brand.”
Sanders has more than two decades of consumer-driven marketing experience, with focus in franchised organizations. She led the marketing team in brand strategy and rapid growth at fast-casual start-up Smashburger, and led creative development, media planning, consumer insights, loyalty and menu innovation at Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. and Boston Market. She joins Long John Silver’s from 6,000 unit Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. where as Senior Vice President she was instrumental in the company’s repositioning and successful brand re-launch.
“Long John Silver’s has an amazing story to tell. Our fish is wild-caught off the coast of Alaska and flash-frozen aboard the fishing boat in order to lock in the flavor,” said Sanders. “Plus, we are introducing a number of product and flavor innovations, like the current beer-battered cod offering as well as rolling out a restaurant redesign. It’s an exciting time for this brand.”
Sanders holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, and a BA from Northwestern University.
