“Mercy Mondays at Pie Five” to Raise Funds for Children’s Hospital

"Mercy Mondays at Pie Five" to Raise Funds for Children's Hospital

Trend-setting pizza chain will give back 5% of Monday’s sales every week

Even before they opened to the public, the local Pie Five Pizza restaurants have made a determined effort to support the life-saving work performed at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City.  A total of $10,000 was donated to the hospital during last year’s grand openings of the Overland Park and Lenexa restaurants.

Now the trend-setting fast casual pizza chain is doubling down on its commitment with “Mercy Mondays at Pie Five.”  Beginning April 7, and every Monday thereafter, Pie Five will donate five percent of all sales from local restaurants to the pediatric hospital.  No ending date for the fundraising campaign has been set.

“The mission of Children’s Mercy is to never turn patients away, regardless of their financial situation,” said Kevin Goebel, Operating Partner of the Pie Five franchises in the Kansas City area.  “Pie Five Pizza fully embraces that mission, which is why we’ve made the hospital the sole recipient of our grand opening fundraising as well as Mercy Mondays.  We hope pizza lovers throughout the area will join us in supporting this extraordinary facility.”

Pie Five guests can also learn more about how Children’s Mercy is making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.  Both restaurants will be posting photos of young patients and a brief message about their medical story, along with quarterly updates of the funds raised for the hospital by the restaurant and its guests.

“Everyone at Pie Five Pizza, from the Goebel family on down, has been extremely generous,” said Jenea Oliver, Vice President, Department of Philanthropy at Children’s Mercy.  “Their support has helped us improve the lives of so many wonderful children already, and the Mercy Mondays promotion is sure to do even more good. We’re grateful for Pie Five’s commitment to our hospital and, in turn, the greater Kansas City community.”

Pie Five Pizza restaurants are located at 12154 W. 95th St. in the Oak Park Commons shopping center in Lenexa and 13366 Metcalf Ave. in the Shoppes at Deer Creek Woods in Overland Park.

At Pie Five, guests can choose from more than a million combinations of handcrafted pizzas and a variety of specialty pie choices prepared in less than five minutes on one of four crusts all for one low price.  The rapidly expanding chain is capitalizing on growing consumer demand for fresh dining options and artisan pizzas in stylish environments without the wait.
