Newk's Eatery Opens Second Houston Area Restaurant
The Katy restaurant is the first of three new Houston locations to open by end of 2015 and is part of a larger expansion of the fresh-casual dining brand’s East Texas presence

Newk's Eatery Opens Second Houston Area RestaurantNewk’s Eatery, a fresh-casual restaurant concept known among its loyal following for its flavorful, culinary-inspired menu, has opened a new location in the Houston suburb of Katy, Texas. The restaurant, which has generated 50 new jobs in the Houston area, is located in a new development of standalone restaurants on Katy Freeway between Fry Road and Westgreen Boulevard. The ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration of Newk’s Eatery’s Katy location will be held on Tuesday, August 12.

The original Houston Newk’s Eatery location, which opened in Cypress in 2007, is owned/operated by the Crowson family and restaurateurs Colby Kaminer and Todd Jackson. The franchise team selected Katy for its second Houston area location because of the exponential growth in the Energy Corridor and the proximity to residential communities and hospitals. The Katy restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating for 200 guests.

“Newk’s is a casual restaurant that serves up freshly-prepared, flavorful entrees in an upscale family-friendly dining room,” said Colby Kaminer, who oversees the Houston area restaurants. “The combination of great food and a friendly, hardworking staff has helped make Newk’s a favorite place for lunch, dinner and catered meals in Cypress, and we have the same expectation for Katy.”

The casual, upscale Newk’s Eatery offers a variety of quality, craveable menu options from the open-view kitchen including fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes. The culinary-driven dining concept features exceptional ingredient combinations like salads with chicken, cranberries, pecans, artichoke hearts and gorgonzola cheese on a bed of spring greens, for mouth-wateringly distinct flavor profiles.

Newk’s offers a separate catering menu and original programs that keep customers coming back. Newk’s Roundtable Club members receive special offers and rewards. The club is named after the table featured in the center of every location that offers various complimentary spices, toppings and add-ons, allowing diners to customize their menu items. Another original Newk’s concept is Grab-n-Go, which gives busy guests the option to quickly pick out a favorite menu item from the select offerings in the restaurant’s open, stand-up refrigerator case for an on-the-go lunch or take-out dinner.

In addition to the Cypress and Katy locations, the franchise team also owns an Austin Newk’s Eatery. The group recently signed an area development agreement that will expand the fresh-casual dining brand’s East Texas presence to 10 restaurants. Two additional restaurants are planned for Houston by the end of 2015 and five additional restaurants for Austin by 2019.

The Oxford, Miss.-based Newk’s Eatery currently has 69 locations across 13 states and plans to open 15 locations this year, reaching 200 total restaurants by 2019. Newk’s has been featured on Technomic’s list of top 50 fast-casual chains nationwide.
