Franchisees to open 3 units over the next few years
Newk’s Eatery will debut in the Dallas area with its first restaurant in the Willow Bend Market at 5960 West Parker Road in Plano, which is scheduled to open in April. The restaurant is being brought to the area by Cheek Holdings, LLC, an investment group led by Andrea and Heath Cheek and Corey Cheek. The group signed an agreement to open three Newk’s restaurants in Dallas over the next three years.
Andrea discovered Newk’s when she was working as a traveling consultant in the southeastern United States.
“I came across Newk’s while traveling in Mississippi and Alabama and saw how passionate its customers were about the quality of food and concept,” Andrea said. “The food is fresh and filling and goes well with the health-conscious trend so we think it will fit in perfectly in Dallas. We hope to open 15 additional locations after our first three and really build out the Dallas-Fort Worth market.”
Newk’s Eatery provides an express casual dining experience and features a variety of made-to-order choices including fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes baked by Newk’s Bakery Company. A selection of wines by the glass and beer is also available.
“Newk’s has a devoted following of extremely passionate customers,” Andrea said. “We think Plano and the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area is going to fall in love with the food at Newk’s, just like other parts of the country have. Everything is made from scratch, making it uniquely delicious.”
Since opening its first location in Oxford, Miss., in 2004, Newk’s has expanded their presence to 10 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Newk’s has more than 50 restaurants and more than 40 are franchised. Projections call for 10 restaurants to open in 2013.
