On The Border Expands Detroit's Footprint with Westland Opening on December 10On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina – home of the Original Meltdown Margarita and sizzling, Mesquite-grilled fajitas – will bring its fourth location and 120 new jobs to Detroit when it opens its new restaurant in Westland on Thursday, December 10.

“We are so excited about bringing OTB to this great community,” said Matt Vander Zanden, general manager of On The Border. “I know the people of Westland and surrounding areas are going to love it. We’re building a great team and will be a super neighbor from day one.”

Located at 35613 Warren Road, the 6,858 square foot restaurant features 3,316 square feet of dining and bar space that can seat up to 215 guests, and a 448 square foot patio that seats 20 guests. The Westland restaurant represents a sleek, streamlined new prototype for the OTB brand, featuring an open kitchen with a mesquite wood-burning grill, a state-of-the-art bar, bright colors and rustic finishes. The restaurant will also offer a spacious cantina with a broad selection of fine tequilas, draft beers, and multiple flat screens for sports viewing.

Ward Whitworth

“This is our fourth restaurant to open in the Detroit area, and will be our sixth in Michigan. The people of this state and the communities where we have restaurants have always been very good to us,” said Ward Whitworth, President of On The Border. “Quite simply, we want to be Warren County’s favorite Mexican restaurant – and we have the right recipes and the right people to do just that. We are bringing all of our guests’ favorites, including endless chips & salsa, Mesquite-grilled fajitas with a sizzle so awesome it turns heads, ‘Guacamole Live!’ made fresh-to-order at your table, homemade salsa and sauces, and hand-pressed flour tortillas. And we’re known for having best-in-class margaritas. I recommend an OTB Meltdown. Just start with your favorite margarita and top it off with a liqueur or fine tequila of your choice – it’s a great way to customize your ‘rita, and give it a little extra kick. We’re proud of our heritage and eager to bring our great flavors, unique cocktails and great times to Westland.”

On The Border in Westland will be open for lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday. Call 734-689-5204 for more details.
