World’s Largest Casual Dining Mexican Restaurant Brand Set for February 22 Grand Opening in Midwest City
On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina – home of the Original Meltdown Margarita and sizzling, Mesquite-grilled fajitas – will bring its signature brand of craveable Mexican food and drinks – and approximately 130 new jobs – to the Oklahoma City area when it opens its new restaurant in Midwest City on Monday, February 22.
“I was born in Norman and went to the University of Oklahoma so I couldn’t be more excited about opening OTB’s newest location in the Metroplex. I’ve worked for OTB for more than 16 years. I love the brand and love this community,” said Lynn Morris, general manager of On The Border. “I have no doubt that the people of Midwest City and surrounding areas like Tinker Air Force Base and Rose State College are going to love it.”
Located at 433 Planet Ct, at the NW corner of SE 29th and I40 on Tinker Diagonal (1 block west of the Tinker Main Gate), the 6,000-plus square foot restaurant features nearly 3,500 square feet of dining and bar space that can seat up to 207 guests, and more than 1,000 square feet of patio space. The Midwest City restaurant represents a sleek, streamlined new prototype for the OTB brand featuring an open kitchen with a mesquite wood-burning grill, bright colors, rustic furnishings and finishes. The restaurant will also offer a state-of-the-art, spacious cantina with a broad selection of tequilas, draft beers, and multiple flat screens for sports viewing.
“This is our fifth restaurant in the Oklahoma City area, and the local community has always been very good to us,” said Ward Whitworth, President of On The Border. “Quite simply, we want to be Oklahoma County’s favorite Mexican restaurant and we have the right recipes and the right people to do just that. We are bringing all of our guest favorites, including endless chips & salsa with every meal, Mesquite-grilled fajitas with a sizzle so big it turns heads, ‘Guacamole Live!’ made fresh-to-order at your table, homemade salsa and sauces, and hand-pressed flour tortillas. And of course we’re known for having best-in-class margaritas. We’re proud of our heritage and eager to bring our great flavors, unique cocktails and great times to Midwest City.”
On The Border in Midwest City will be open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 11 am to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Call 405-622-4446 for more details.
