One Year Later, Restaurant Innovator STACKED:Food Well Built Proves iPads Do Deserve a Seat at the Table

Launched just one year ago, Southern California restaurant chain STACKED:Food Well Built has become a true industry game changer by giving guests exactly what they want: the ability to customize their meals with the swipe of a finger. As a result, STACKED has earned the praise of industry insiders, numerous awards and an almost cult-like following among its fans, who not only admire the technology advancements but revel in the high-quality menu featuring America’s favorite foods including burgers, pizzas, salads, mac n’ cheese with a variety of sides and desserts. To celebrate, STACKED will launch an anniversary celebration called “Random STACKS of Kindness” and give away a total of nine iPads, plus free food and merchandise at its locations in Torrance, Cerritos and San Diego beginning Monday, June 4.

The brainchild of industry veterans Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy, who built BJ’s Restaurants into a national chain, the STACKED experience is built around proprietary tableside technology that lets diners custom design their meals while receiving full-service attention and enjoying a high-quality meal at reasonable prices. Guests can design their orders in a create-your-own menu format choosing among dozens of ingredients, or choose from creative signature items built around flavors from across the world. Also on the menu are appetizers, shakes, desserts, wine and wide selection of craft beers.

Guest-Designed Culinary Masterpieces

STACKED has served hundreds of thousands of unique guest creations at its three locations at the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego, and Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos. In fact, more than 135,000 customized burgers have been created by diners, some of them attaining masterpiece status among employees including Executive Chef Javier’s favorites, which included a pretzel bun stacked with a beef patty, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, onion strings and topped with BBQ sauce.

Chef Javier’s favorite guest-designed salad started with Romaine lettuce as the base, then was stacked with green onions, fresh basil, dried sweet corn, avocado, Roma tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, toasted pepitas, blackened salmon, and creamy herb dressing. Among the most innovative shakes designed by a diner included a chocolate shake with chocolate chip cookies, Reese’s peanut butter cups, banana, toasted almonds, and topped with whipped cream.

Celebrating its First Anniversary

To celebrate its successful first year, STACKED will launch the “Random STACKS of Kindness” promotion on June 4, and will give away a total of nine iPads, as well as free and discounted meals and STACKED merchandise at its three locations during the month of June. Guests can enter the contest by becoming a STACKED member, easily accomplished via the Restaurant’s tabletop iPads, and then logging on to their account when ordering. Winners will be selected randomly and will be notified via email.
