Statesboro will never look at tacos the same way again…
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, the wildly popular chain with the fanatical following, will open its first area restaurant on Statesboro Place Circle at 7:00 AM on Monday, April 15th. It will be the second Fuzzy’s in Georgia and the 65th restaurant system-wide across 11 states.
Known for its generous helpings of uniquely flavorful Baja-style Mexican fare, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has become an overnight sensation in the restaurant industry. Expanding across the nation at a rapid clip, Fuzzy’s menu features its original take on the Baja taco, along with a wide array of handmade enchiladas, salads, nachos and burritos. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a generous selection of beer, wine, margaritas and other drink specials.
“Fuzzy’s isn’t just another Mexican restaurant, which is pretty obvious the minute you step inside our doors,” said George Lebus, owner of the Statesboro franchise. “If you haven’t tried one of our tacos, or salads, or our chips and queso, you don’t know what it means to be a ‘Fuzzy’s fanatic.’ And our breakfast menu is just as awesome as lunch and dinner. I have no doubt the Statesboro community is going to embrace us with open arms.”
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is renowned for its signature chips and queso, huge salads, jumbo burritos and Baja tacos, prepared soft or crispy. The tacos are often referred to as “addictive,” thanks to the garlic sauce and feta cheese that make them so distinctive.
To make the Fuzzy’s experience as easy as possible for people on the go, Lebus is introducing a pick-up window at the Statesboro location. Customers can simply call in and their meal will be ready in just 7-10 minutes.
“Our breakfast customers are really going to love the convenience of the pick-up window,” said Lebus. “No more fast-food nightmares, and you won’t have to talk to us through one of those ridiculous speakers.”
Like other Fuzzy’s locations, the new Statesboro restaurant features a full bar, multiple televisions, a covered patio that wraps around the building, and lively, colorful décor with local community accents. Energetic background music gives the eatery a cool, fun vibe.
“We thought we’d open on Tax Day so people can drop by and enjoy a great meal along with their favorite drink to ease the pain after seeing how much money they paid to the IRS,” said Lebus. “Once you walk inside, our warm and Fuzzy atmosphere will make everything a little better…and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg like that check you just wrote!”
The Statesboro location will be open Sunday – Wednesday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM (pickup window open till 11:00 PM); and Thursday – Saturday from 7:00 AM to 1:00 AM (pick-up till 2:00 AM). The restaurant will seat approximately 200 customers and employ 25-30 people. The restaurant is on Highway 301 across from Millhouse Steakhouse in the former Sonny’s BBQ location.

Founded in 2001 near the TCU campus in Fort Worth, the original Fuzzy’s Taco Shop was purchased by Alan and Chuck Bush after just two years of operation. The father-son combination with a collective 20 years of restaurant industry experience initially took a slow, hands-on approach to running the business. They insisted on adhering to the Fuzzy’s promise: “To focus our full attention on promptly and efficiently providing our guests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price.” The mission remains central to the chain’s success today as Fuzzy’s expands across the country.
