Pita Pit Kicks Off Another Year of March Mayhem with Launch of MVPita Challenge

Annual Bracket Challenge Pits Pita Favorites Head-to-Head with One Year of Free Pitas on the Line

Pita Pit, the rapidly growing brand founded on fresh thinking and healthy eating, is thrilled to launch its second annual MVPita Bracket Challenge on Tuesday, March 15th. 16 of the brand’s most delicious, crowd-pleasing pitas are set to square off, ready for Pita Pit’s Facebook fans to determine who will advance and eventually be crowned the MVPita Bracket Challenge champion.

“Last year we returned to our college roots by launching the MVPita Challenge as a way to engage our fans and to see which pita they loved most,” said Jordy Patano, Pita Pit’s Digital Marketing Manager. “Pita Pit originally started in college towns and our franchisees always found ways to connect with both students and college culture. Our goal was to take that foundation and make it digital by launching a bracket style challenge to see which pita really reigns supreme in the eyes of our guests. After our successes last year, both in and out of our stores, we listened to our fans and launched the challenge again.”

This year, the MVPita Bracket Challenge puts 16 fan favorite pitas into a bracket-style head-to-head matchup. Fans can vote every two hours, narrowing the field from 16 all the way down to the top two and ultimate champion.

After each round, users who enter their email address on the application will receive a special offer from Pita Pit by email right before the final round. One grand-prize winner will be selected on April 4th from the winning pita’s team and will win free Pita Pit for one year.

The challengers for the title of MVPita Bracket Challenge champion include favorites such as Chicken Souvlaki, Gyro, Chicken Caesar and Falafel. All sixteen pitas are bringing their A-game to the competition, displaying distinct personalities like the “Big Man on Campus” Chicken Crave, “True Gentleman” Dagwood and “Beach Bum” Aloha.

“Our brand loves a good challenge,” Patano said. “We’re not afraid to put our fresh, bold flavors up against one another. Our pita fanatics are already cheering for their favorite basketball teams, and now we’re giving them an opportunity to cheer in a different, fun way for their favorite pita too.”

The MVPita Bracket Challenge serves as yet another highlight for Pita Pit in a year that’s already primed to break all existing records for growth. Pita Pit celebrated the opening of its 600th global location in February in Quincy, Wash., following a record year in 2015 with more than 35 new locations in the U.S. alone. The brand increased its presence nationwide in 2015, opening in 10 previously untapped markets, including Cleveland, San Antonio, Kansas City and Houston. Pita Pit plans to surpass 2015’s record breaking year of growth by another 10 percent in 2016, opening 45 new locations in at least six new markets.
