The Saddlerock oyster, rocking with flavor and fresh from Long Island’s K & B Seafood, will be featured as the April “Oyster of the Month” at the historic Grand Central Oyster Bar, it has been decreed by executive chef Sandy Ingber, the renowned “Bishop of Bivalves.”
The Saddlerocks will be priced at $2.15 per oyster, and “these North Shore Long Island beauties explode with flavor, and are crisp to slurp with a light briny taste,” according to Ingber.
“Our relationship with Tom Kehoe and K&B Seafood for well over 20 years has proven to be a gem of a find. He hand picks our oysters and his menu is vast, both East and West coast varieties,” adds Ingber. “This has opened up a field of the freshest oysters from around the world.”
“The Saddlerock Oyster is a wild oyster native to the North Shore of Long Island,” notes Tom Kehoe, President and CEO of K & B Seafood, Inc. “They are still gathered by independent baymen on the same oyster beds and grounds that the first American settlers and natives harvested from hundreds of years ago.”
The Grand Central Oyster Bar serves 4,000 oysters daily from 30 varieties, served on the half shell, roasted, broiled, Rockefeller-style, and in pan roasts and stews.
