The Big Salad team member, Gabe Hernandez, has scored a series of Small Victories to equal one big achievement — as he recently became franchisee of the healthy, quick-food food restaurant’s signature location in Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.
Making great, quality food coupled with excellent customer service is something about which Hernandez knows a great deal. Starting in 2010 as a salad chef in Troy, Mich., he worked his way up and through different roles — Royal Oak, Mich., store manager; corporate field manager; Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., store manager; and now franchise owner.
“The Big Salad is an excellent mix of fresh, healthy food and we work hard to make it a great experience for our customers,” Hernandez explained. “Having an in-demand product is necessary to run a good business, but having great customer service is what separates a good company from a great company. I have been very fortunate to work for such a great company — and I’m thrilled to now be a franchise owner.”
The Big Salad Founder and CEO John Bornoty is proud to have been a part of Hernandez’s series of small victories which led to turning over the company’s flagship restaurant. “I believe that there is no one big moment in time that defines us — Gabe is an excellent example. He worked to land his first job with us as a salad chef right through to being a franchise owner. From experience, it’s great to have a small victory of your own, but I can also say that it’s great to watch the progression of many small victories leading to a big achievement.”
The Small Victories campaign, launched earlier this year, promotes the achievements that are realized each and every day but often go unnoticed. Customers of The Big Salad are invited to share their Small Victory in person at one of the five locations – Ann Arbor, Grosse Pointe Woods, Novi, Royal Oak and Troy; on The Big Salad website; and using social media on the company’s Facebook page, or with Twitter using @BigSalad and/or the hashtag #smallvictory.
Since opening its first location in 2008, The Big Salad has allowed people to make their meal their own. Through thoughtful planning, The Big Salad chefs are equipped to prepare more than 17 million possible iceberg, romaine or spinach salad combinations for customers right at the point of purchase with a choice of 40 toppings and 30 dressings. Additionally, The Big Salad offers a plethora of fresh sandwich and soup options, as well as putting any salad into a wrap. Currently, The Big Salad can be found in Ann Arbor, Grosse Pointe Woods, Novi, Royal Oak and Troy. The restaurant chain has plans to open 200 stores in strategically located metro areas across the country within the next 10 years. Learn more at http://www.thebigsalad.net.
