Memer peacefully passed away on March 7, 2023 on what would have been her 102 birthday. To honor her, Soulman’s is giving a free piece of her pie to accompany each of the first 102 meals ordered at each of their of 20 North Texas locations, while supplies last.   

“When Soulman’s Bar-B-Que first opened its doors in Pleasant Grove on October 19th, 1974, Mermer Hallett’s cherished homemade recipes laid the groundwork for our menu,” explains CEO Brett Randle. “These recipes, particularly her unforgettable Buttermilk Pie, have been handed down through generations, embodying not just delicious food but also enduring family values.
