SUBWAY, the world’s largest sandwich chain, will celebrate National Sandwich Day on Tuesday, November 3rd, in a big way – with a “Buy One, Give One” offer at participating restaurants.
Customers who purchase any 6-inch or Footlong Sub, plus a 30 oz. drink will be able to give another sub of equal or lesser value to someone of their choice. ‘Give One’ to someone you love or someone who needs it. Pay it forward!
National Sandwich Day also marks the launch of SUBWAY’s #SaveLunchBreak movement.
Through 2015, guests can join the movement using the newly created hashtag #SaveLunchBreak. A series of collectable t-shirts, posters and limited-edition SUBWAY swag will also be available. Multiple SUBWAY-owned social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, FB, Snapchat, etc.) will support this movement with fun and engaging content
In addition, SUBWAY recently commissioned a survey to uncover consumer insights on the current lunch habits of working professionals in North America. The survey showed:
- 7 in 10 workers take a lunch break that is 30 minutes or less
- 20 percent of millennials take fewer than 15 minutes for lunch, as compared to 11 percent GenX
- More than half of all workers wish they could take a nap during lunch, with millennials leading the way over Gen Xers (57 percent v. 46 percent)
- 49 percent feel they would snack less and make better meal choices if they took a lunch break
“We discovered that people around the country are experiencing ‘recess withdrawal’ and rarely taking lunch,” said Lanette Kovachi, corporate dietitian for SUBWAY. “As a result, we saw the opportunity to champion a ‘Fresh Take’ on the lunch break and encourage our consumers to replenish their mind and body by taking a breather before the afternoon ahead.”
