There's a New Pie in Town! Pie Five Pizza Co. Opens First Detroit LocationThe Circle of Crust just got bigger.  On Friday, May 29, the Detroit area will get a piece of the pie when Pie Five Pizza Co. opens its first area location at the northwest corner of 12 Mile and Telegraph at 11:00 a.m.  Local franchisee, JD Draper and his son John Draper II, are planning to open at least 25 Pie Five locations in Michigan and Wisconsin.

J.D. Draper, a United States Army veteran, has over 40 years’ experience in the restaurant industry where he directed brands such as Burger King, Auntie Anne’s and Pizza Hut. He along with his son, John, are also Wingstop franchisees. They are also planning to open a second Southfield location next month in City Centre.

“We can’t wait to show the Detroit area a new way to enjoy their favorite pizzas,” said local franchise owner John Draper. “Pie Five offers fresh ingredients, great value and a fun family-friendly environment that will be a huge hit for this area.”

There's a New Pie in Town! Pie Five Pizza Co. Opens First Detroit LocationThe unique Pie Five model allows patrons to top their pizzas any way they want for the low price of $6.99, cooked in 145 seconds in a custom-designed, state-of-the-art oven. There are millions of possible pizza combinations Pie Five customers can create with four crusts (including artisan thin, classic pan, whole wheat grain Neapolitan and gluten-free), seven sauces and 28 fresh toppings. Additionally, they can add one of Pie Five’s freshly-tossed hand-made salads served in a baked pizza dough bowl or a decadent home-baked brownie or cookie pie.

“We can’t wait to show guests that artisanal, quality pizza can be served fast – 145 seconds to be exact,” said Draper. “Our concept has something for everyone and will be a new favorite of on-the-go families — everyone can personalize their own pizza just the way they like it.”

The Drapers are committed to giving back to their local community. As part of its grand opening festivities, the new Pie Five Pizza Co. will donate half of its sales from pre-opening training to Wish Upon a Teen, which is a non-profit solely dedicated to helping teenagers dealing with life- limiting illnesses or serious injuries.  Their Design My Room program is for teenage patients facing extended hospitalization and makeovers may include new bedding, rugs, posters, movie/sports memorabilia, all based on each teenager’s interests and tastes.

The new Southfield location will be the 48th location for the Dallas-based Pie Five brand. Pie Five operates in 13 states with more than 400 announced company-owned and franchise units in development.
