At the height of summer vacation season, OpenTable, the world’s leading provider of online restaurant reservations, has announced the 2013 Diners’ Choice Award winners for the Top 100 Scenic View Restaurants in the United States. These awards reflect the combined opinions of more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
With spectacular views of natural wonder and city landmarks, the list of winners spans 29 states and includes Canlis in Seattle, Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck in Dallas, and Top of the Hub in Boston. The picturesque state of California makes a strong showing with 22 honorees. Washington follows with seven top scenic restaurants, trailed by Maryland, Nevada, and New York, with six winners each. Oregon restaurants claim five spots on the list, and Massachusetts and North Carolina have each earned four spots apiece. Missouri, New Jersey and Pennsylvania all boast three winners. Alaska, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin each have two winning restaurants. Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Utah are also represented. Eateries specializing in American fare, including Californian and Pacific Northwest regional, proved particularly popular, as did seafood restaurants.
“A table at any of these winning restaurants is sure to be the crown jewel of your travel and dining experiences,” says Caroline Potter, OpenTable Chief Dining Officer. “In a single sitting, you can take in the very best vistas of each city while feasting on fresh, local ingredients and specialties to help you capture the true essence of the region.”
The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Scenic View Restaurants are generated from more than 5 million reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between July 1, 2012, and June 30, 2013. All restaurants with a minimum “overall” score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which “scenic view” was selected as a special feature.
Based on this methodology, the following restaurants, listed in alphabetical order, comprise the Top 100 Scenic View Restaurants in the U.S. according to OpenTable diners. The complete list may also be viewed at http://www.opentable.com/scenic.
