Chicken Strip Sandwich with Monterey Jack, Jalapeño Ranch and Grilled Onions, Poblano and Red Bell Peppers Available for a Limited Time
Customers looking for a brand new spin on their favorite flavors can enjoy Whataburger’s new Chicken Strip Monterey Melt Sandwich, now available for a limited time. The sandwich is stacked high with three crispy, all-white meat chicken strips, two slices of Monterey Jack cheese, grilled onions, poblano and red bell peppers, and topped off with Whataburger’s signature Jalapeño Ranch – all served on a toasted five-inch bun.
The Chicken Strip Monterey Melt sandwich was inspired by Whataburger’s All-Time Favorite, the Monterey Melt. With its bold taste, the new Chicken Strip Monterey Melt serves up favorite flavors in a whole new way.
“Our customers love the Monterey Melt so much that we decided to take those same ingredients and add crispy chicken strips for a whole new flavor combination,” said Whataburger Vice President of Marketing and Innovation Rich Scheffler. “With the Jalapeño Ranch, cheese and grilled peppers and onions, this new sandwich has just the right amount of spice with a delicious twist.”
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 760 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually.
