Zaxby’s Rules the Roost in 2011 Fast-Casual Sales

Zaxby’s is recognized as number five in the nation for total sales in the 2012 Top 150 Fast-Casual Chain Restaurant Reportrecently published by Technomic, a market research firm specializing in the restaurant industry. Also ranked as the chicken segment leader, Zaxby’s sales surpassed $840 million in 2011, distinguishing it among other segment leaders, including Panera Bread and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

“Our growth is an outcome of our company’s continued promise to provide our guests with the best experience at our restaurants,” said CEO and cofounder Zach McLeroy. “Our team members’ and licensees’ commitment to Zaxby’s results in this success and brings our unique menu offerings to more people every day.”

Technomic’s report tracks the sales and performance of more than 400 fast-casual brands. Technomic outlines the fast-casual segment as having key characteristics referred to as the “Ten F’s of Fast-Casual.” With importance on fast service, friendly employees and flexible offerings, among others, Zaxby’s is one of only two regional chains to be ranked as a segment leader among the largest fast-casual segments.

One of Zaxby’s core values, developed by its founders, is based on operational excellence — “We strive to achieve the highest quality possible in everything that we do.” This simple operating philosophy is one of the many driving forces behind the company’s steady growth.

In addition to being recognized as number five for overall sales among the top 150 leading U.S. fast-casual chain restaurants, Zaxby’s was recently recognized for its customer satisfaction. The company ranked number seven in the Top 10 Excellent Large Fast-Food Chains With 500 Or More U.S. Units in the recently published Quick-Track study conducted by Sandelman & Associates in 2011.
