Funds raised in memory of beloved employees for the Hooters Community Endowment Fund
Hooters of America, LLC, hosted the 21st annual Hooters Memorial Cup Golf Tournament yesterday at the Marietta Country Club in Kennesaw, Georgia, raising more than $132,000 to benefit Hooters philanthropic efforts. The funds raised will go toward the Hooters Community Endowment Fund (HOO.C.E.F.), a 501(c)(3) established to support various charities that directly impact the local communities Hooters serves. The annual event is held in honor of Hooters employees Mark Brooks, Charlie Campbell and Dan Duncan, and NASCAR champion Alan Kulwicki, who lost their lives in an airplane crash on April 1, 1993.
“Mark, Charlie and Dan were deeply engrained in the Hooters family and played an integral role in establishing our brand as the worldwide phenomenon it is today,” said Chris Duncan, chief information officer, Hooters of America, and son of the late Dan Duncan. “The Hooters Memorial Cup is a special event that helps preserve their legacies and bolsters Hooters philanthropic efforts for the many local and national causes we support.”
Since 1992, HOO.C.E.F. has contributed nearly $10 million to numerous charitable organizations that have a close connection to Hooters, including the American Diabetes Association®, JDRF, Make-A-Wish®, Muscular Dystrophy Association™, The V Foundation for Cancer Research®, and the USO. In its 21 years, the Hooters Memorial Cup Golf Tournament has raised more than $2.4 million to-date for HOO.C.E.F. As another great example of Hooters philanthropic efforts, next month Hooters will kick off a monthlong series of fundraising initiatives in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month. The entire Hooters system will be involved in raising much needed funds for breast cancer research.
“With thanks to the support of our generous sponsors, players and the local community of Marietta, this year’s Memorial Cup was once again a tremendous success,” said Duncan.
