Bob Watson is counting on South Jersey’s insatiable appetite for diners.
“In Wisconsin, they don’t have diners,” he said. “On the East Coast, consumers know all about diners.”
Watson is bringing 5 & Diner, a concept deep-fried in nostalgia, to the market, with plans for eight franchises. Picture a jukebox at every booth, paper soda-jerk hats for the kids and the Big Bopper, a signature double quarter-pounder.
There are such retro touches as booths named for Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. The strongest drink on the menu is a chocolate milkshake.
