30 new restaurant openings and two new states planned for 2024
Eggs Up Grill is wrapping up 2023 by breaking records in new restaurant openings, development commitments and sales growth, setting up an even bigger year ahead in 2024. This year, the Better Breakfast concept opened a record 12 new restaurants, including its first in Texas. The Brand signed 18 new franchise groups, adding 47 restaurants to its development pipeline. The growth means the Brand is approaching 200 restaurants open, under development or committed to future development.
“We have many accomplishments to celebrate as we wrap up another record-breaking year. More than 45 percent of Eggs Up Grill restaurants exceeded the system average sales volume of $1.2 million in 2023, including one franchise group with sales of nearly $1.9 million,” said Richardson. “Our hard-working franchisees and team members are at the heart of this success, and I could not be any prouder that the best franchise partners in the industry are fueling our growth.”
Richardson says sales were up eight percent for the trailing 12 months, which will be commemorated at the upcoming franchise owners’ conference in January. Eggs Up Grill saw big gains in 2023 from catering sales, as well as restaurants that remodeled – some seeing double-digit sales increases – by adopting the Brand’s new-generation look. Also significant was the expansion of its product line with the addition of fryers and espresso machines.
“We’ve been able to serve millions of guests this year–some in new neighborhoods and others in communities where we’ve been for more than 25 years,” Richardson added. “By staying true to our promise to make each guest smile, we continue to realize year-over-year growth in both sales and traffic, while expanding our menu with delicious, high-quality food and drinks that everyone can enjoy.”
Part of Eggs Up Grill’s rapid franchise growth includes entering the new states of Mississippi and Ohio in 2024. These development deals brought industry veterans from Captain D’s, IHOP and Firehouse Subs to its franchise community. The Brand will also be expanding its footprint in Texas with a total of 12 restaurants planned for Houston and Austin. Other development agreements signed this year include 10 restaurants in Virginia with the largest Sports Clip franchisee, another 10 restaurants in Central North Carolina and two more in Florida.
Under Richardson’s leadership, Eggs Up Grill continues to attract top-tier talent and has doubled its brand team in 2023. The goal was to expand the resources available to its franchisees, particularly when it comes to increased development support to shorten the opening process. The Brand is also rolling out a high-tech learning management system to better equip franchisees when training team members.
“As we grow, we are committed to ensuring our teams and franchise partners enjoy the highest level of support from our Brand. We are investing in both the tools and talent to ensure each restaurant is set up for success.”
In addition to being named the 2022 breakout brand of the year, Eggs Up Grill earned the number-one ranking in the breakfast franchise category for a third year by Entrepreneur and continued to climb the publication’s prestigious Franchise 500 list. Other awards and rankings included the Franchise Times Top 500, the Franchise Times Fast & Serious, the Top 500 by Nation’s Restaurant News and the Future 50 by Restaurant Business.
