Tolliver to join Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar leadership at Jan. 25 ceremony

"America's Best Sports Bar" to Break Ground in LubbockA special groundbreaking ceremony next week will help usher in one of the nation’s most acclaimed sports bars to the Hub City.

Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, voted “#1 Sports Bar in North America” by ESPN, is coming to Lubbock, and bringing along its fresh Louisiana cuisine, fun game-day atmosphere and America’s Cheerleaders to make every guest feel welcome.

Walk-On’s Enterprises co-founder and owner Brandon Landry will shovel dirt alongside the owners of the local franchise – Lubbock entrepreneurs Jared and Heather Burnett, Johnny and Diane Qubty, and Josh and Chanda Allen – General Manager Rob Tuttle, Texas Tech legend Billy Joe Tolliver and other local dignitaries at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, at 2630 W. Loop 289, in the West End Shopping Center. A reception featuring several of Walk-On’s signature menu items will follow.

“Heather and I have always thought that Lubbock needed a place where you can go and watch the games, while enjoying top-notch food,” said Jared Burnett. “When I first ate at Walk-On’s in Baton Rouge, I knew if I ever was to own a sports bar, it would be exactly like that. I can’t wait to watch this restaurant take shape over the next few months. It’s going to be awesome.”

In May, New Orleans Saints superstar Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought into Walk-On’s Enterprises as co-owners. Drew pointed out that Walk-On’s is “a great place to bring my family, teammates and business colleagues” and that they were excited to help “expand the brand across the nation.”

The 8,500 square-foot restaurant will feature more than 70 high-definition flat-screen TVs, over 50 beers on tap, custom pour-your-own table taps, a VIP room and banquet facilities, and a festive beer garden on an 1,800 square-foot outdoor patio. The restaurant will seat more than 280 guests and bring roughly 120 new jobs to Lubbock when it opens in summer 2016.

“Our brand is the perfect fit for a great college town like Lubbock,” said Landry. “I have no doubt that Red Raider Nation is going to love the food and atmosphere in their very own Walk-On’s when it opens later this year.”

Walk-On’s currently has seven locations – two in Baton Rouge and one each in New Orleans, Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport and Lake Charles. Other restaurants are under construction in Juban Crossing, Zachary and Covington. Lubbock will be the first Walk-On’s outside of Louisiana, and several additional markets across the Southern United States are likewise on the drawing board.
