President/CEO and Founder Ron Green is pleased to announce a new partnership with the H. C. Valentine Coffee Company to roast Another Broken Egg Café’s (ABEC) first proprietary coffee selections. The artisan coffee is made from the highest quality beans from Central and South America and Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee for these artisan blends. The beans were selected by the Green Team during their extensive cupping process, as the team tasted two dozen different bean combinations representing 17 countries before deciding on their Barista Reserve.
The new micro-roasted, specialty coffees will be served at all ABEC’s 26 plus locations by the end of July. The Another Broken Egg Cafe Barista Reserve Blend has pronounced acidity and full body. It has aroma and flavors of dried black cherry, raisins, and chocolate.
“It took three years from my initial meetings to this final stage of partnership to develop the perfect blend for our new Another Broken Egg Café Barista Reserve,” states Ron Green. “We believe our guests will be extremely pleased with this boutique coffee. In line with our company values, we have chosen to incorporate certified beans. Some are organic, others are Rainforest Alliance Certified. Our decaffeinated coffee is created using a non-chemical method called the Swiss Water Process. It is balanced with medium acidity and body with flavors and aromas of malt, cereal and caramel. The finish is sweet, clean and free of processed characteristics. Through purchasing practices like these, we strive to ensure the sustainability of our world, our families and our business.”
H. C. Valentine Coffee Company was founded by William E Smith and Hatton C.V. Smith in 2007, launching under the H.C. Valentine name in 2008, to specialize in artisan, small batch production coffee with its own roasting facility in Birmingham, Alabama. It is a sister operation to their larger coffee production facility Royal Cup. H.C. Valentine’s coffee is artisan “sight roasted” by Roastmaster Stacy Hawkins who has 16 years of experience. Hawkins roasts one bag at a time and blends after each roast. H. C. Valentine roasts 120 to 150 pounds compared to the larger scale productions at the Royal Cup plant, which uses several roasters to handle 550 pounds to 1,000 pounds at a time.
H.C. Valentine roasts each origin by itself enabling it to have its own optimal flavor profile. The company was named at The U.S.A. Beverage Championships as #1 Organic Whole Coffee Beans in the USA by the Masters of Taste of The Chefs in America Awards Foundation in July 2011. Some of the USA’s finest resorts are also clients of H.C. Valentine including The Homestead Hotel & Spa, The Sanctuary Kiawah Island, The Broadmoor and The Biltmore to name a few attesting to the quality level of the coffee.
