Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza Gears up for Football Season with New Charity Partnership in BostonAnthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is gearing up for football season by launching an exciting new partnership in its restaurants across Massachusetts. The partnership with The IMG Boston College Football Radio Network and the Pete Frates #3 Fund charity will involve all of Anthony’s statewide locations including Westwood, Reading, Northborough, Littleton and Newton, for participation in the Sack ALS program.

Through the partnership, Anthony’s will donate $50 for each sack, up to $2,000, that Boston College records this football season. The brand is also hosting a giveback event at all of its Massachusetts locations on October 14th during BC’s game against Louisville where 20 percent of all proceeds will go directly to benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund.

“We want to be a true community partner in every location we have, and this partnership is a perfect way for our Massachusetts’ locations to get involved on a deeper level,” said Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Founder and CEO Anthony Bruno. “By combining forces with Boston College and the Pete Frates #3 Fund, we can help defray Pete’s medical costs and also bring awareness to help fight this debilitating disease that impacts more than 30,000 people in the U.S. alone.”

Pete Frates has been involved in the cause since he was diagnosed with ALS in March of 2012. Frates attended Boston College starting in 2007 and was a four-year member of the baseball team, as well as a school leader and honor roll student. He became the Boston College baseball team captain during his senior year at school. Since he was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 27, he and his family have taken an active role in raising awareness and funds for ALS and research, and Boston College has recently offered its support to help boost Frates’ efforts.

“We are so excited to be working with Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza on the Sack ALS Program this year,” said Michael Winn, General Manager of Boston College IMG Sports Marketing. “When Pete Frates was diagnosed with ALS he decided to attack the disease the way he attacked pitchers when he was a captain of the Boston College Baseball Team. The Sack ALS Program will raise money for The Pete Frates #3 Fund and continue to bring awareness about the need for additional support. Boston College has the best pass rusher in the country, so we are gearing up for a lot of sacks this season.”

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza has always prided itself on being a part of the neighborhoods that it has a presence in, separating the brand from the big chains through not only superior customer service but also through dedicated community involvement. Each location focuses on local grassroots partnerships in order to give back, and the partnership with Frates’ ‘Team Frate Train’ is the latest example of those efforts.

“The Frates family is so grateful for Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza’s support through this ‘Sack ALS’ Program at Boston College,” said Andrew Frates, Pete’s brother. “Having them on board to support the fight against ALS continues to shine a light on the legacy Pete is creating in his push to find a cure.”

Unveiled in 2002, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza introduced the concept of coal oven pizza to south Floridians. Led by founder, Anthony Bruno, the vision was to create coal oven pizza delivering a crisp, “well done” taste that rivaled the ones he enjoyed while growing up in New York. Armed with authentic recipes, the first restaurant was launched in Fort Lauderdale, with a strong, successful response. Over the years, the restaurant has continued to grow in popularity and boasts an almost cult-like following.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza serves up award-winning (USA TODAY), authentic Coal Fired Pizza, Oven Roasted Chicken Wings, homemade meatballs, Eggplant Marino (named after partner and NFL hall of famer Dan Marino) and Anthony’s Classic Italian Salad. With over 60 corporate-owned locations, Anthony’s has become a household name, delivering the signature crisp, “well done” taste.
