Award-Winning Margarita Bar, Iron Cactus, Introduces the 'End of the World' Margarita Named the Mayan

The $100 margarita is the last margarita guests should drink if the world ends on December 21st as the Mayans predicted; Only available from December 17th – December 20th

In case the world ceases to exist on December 21st as the Mayan calendar predicts, Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar’s tribe of mixologists led by Gary Manley, co-owner and general partner of the award-winning margarita bar, has created a one-of-a-kind margarita aptly named, the Mayan. According to Manley and the Iron Cactus mixologists who helped create the $100 margarita, the Mayan is the last drink anyone should consume if the world ends on December 21st.

If the world does not end on December 21st, guests who have purchased the ‘end of the world’ concoction will be mailed a letter inviting them to return to have another Mayan margarita on the house.

“We created this special margarita by asking ourselves if the world ended tomorrow, what would our last margarita look and taste like,” said Manley. “Upon several trials and discussions, we came up with the Mayan margarita, and it is definitely worthy to be the last margarita anyone would want to drink.”

Typically, Iron Cactus does not share its original margarita recipes, but it has decided to make an exception with the Mayan margarita. Following is the recipe for the Mayan margarita:

1 1/2 oz. Deleón Reposado

3/4 oz. Grand Marnier 100 Year

1 1/4 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

1 1/4 oz. Agave Nectar

– Pour ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously. Pour in a martini glass or glass of ice. Garnish with slice of lime wedge. Drink and kiss your loved ones good-bye (optional).

The Mayan margarita is available at all Iron Cactus locations.

Iron Cactus serves award-winning Mexican dishes and premium hand-crafted margaritas. The original restaurant opened on historic 6th Street in downtown Austin in 1996. Since then, Iron Cactus has grown to five locations including restaurants in Dallas and San Antonio, and two additional Austin locations.
