“The best way I could convey our goal of a true partnership to our early franchisees was to be up front with them in our goals of growing to a scalable brand and to compensate them for taking a risk with us,” he said. “Look — at the end of the day a lot of factors will go into whether or not a location is successful. But in my opinion, the early adapters are taking a risk on an emerging brand, and I want to reward them and make sure they know that this is a partnership and not a one way street.”

The move to offer the incentive to the first 100 franchisees is meant to curb the risk factor going into each territory investment, says Fleekop.

“Down the road when we have 200 open locations, it’s going to be a lot less risky opening a new location. I really just want to make sure that our early franchisees understand that we are in this together with a common goal of financially benefiting from our investments, giving back to our community, and providing for our customers and employees,” he commented.

And give back they do.
