The returns on Bob Evans Farms Inc.’s remodeling program are proving to be refreshing.
The Columbus-based restaurant and food products producer Tuesday said it is seeing enough promise in the 155 remodels completed in the past 18 months that it is accelerating its refresh of the entire 565-restaurant chain by a full year.
It now plans to bring its market-by-market remodel to 195 restaurants in fiscal 2013 ending in April, 45 more than originally planned. That will make 313 makeovers since the program began in 2011, leaving the remaining 252 restaurants for fiscal 2014.
To help drive the accelerated growth, Bob Evans is eschewing new restaurants for the time being to focus all capital and manpower on the remodeling work.
