Chain celebrates 40th anniversary with new restaurant featuring its ‘Biscuit Theater’
Bojangles’ (NASDAQ: BOJA), the iconic restaurant famous for its hand-breaded, bone-in chicken, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits and Legendary Iced Tea steeped the old fashioned way, will open its second new restaurant concept location on Thursday, June 1, in Charlotte.
Located at 1401 W. Trade Street, the new 3,900-square-foot restaurant boasts a variety of features designed to celebrate the company’s 40 years of famous chicken and biscuits, enhance the customer experience and demonstrate how the 700 plus unit chain is preparing for the future.
“Opening one of our new concept stores in the historic West End neighborhood, home of a Bojangles’ location since 1980, is a celebration of the past and the future,” said Clifton Rutledge, Bojangles’ President and CEO. “We hope long-time fans and an even broader range of consumers will visit the new store to enjoy Bojangles’ delicious, one-of-a-kind menu offerings.”

On June 1 at 10 a.m., Bojangles’ Vice President and Chief of Staff Jayson Romeo will join Icard, other Bojangles’ representatives and community and business leaders in cutting the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the store after brief remarks to commemorate the occasion.
Also, the brand will test its all-new Peach Legendary Sweet Tea, the first time Bojangles’ has offered a flavored iced tea, at the redesigned location for a limited time beginning on opening day. The new store is one of 36 locations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia to test the flavored iced tea. Customers will also be able to sample other delicious menu items throughout the day.
When the restaurant opens at 5 a.m., the first 100 customers in line (dine-in only) will each receive a $100 Bojangles’ gift card. Other exciting offers to mark the special day include:
- 8-11 a.m. Free Bo-Berry Biscuit with any purchase;
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Free 22 oz. Legendary Iced Tea with any purchase;
- 2-5 p.m.: Free kids’ meal (for kids 12-and-under) with any purchase; and
- 5-10 p.m.: Coupon for a free country ham, steak or sausage biscuit with any purchase.
In the new concept, a distinctive, contemporary exterior combines sophisticated materials like brick, tile and steel canopies. When guests enter, they will be greeted by bold graphics that celebrate the brand’s heritage, such as “Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits” and “Made from Scratch Since 1977.” Guests will be captivated by a “Biscuit Theater” where they can witness biscuits being made fresh every 20 minutes by a Bojangles’ Master Biscuit Maker. Colored crocks replace steel warming trays to give the food display area a more inviting appearance, with increased use of glass adding to the visual appeal.
In addition to putting Bojangles’ fantastic food in the spotlight, the dining room has been enhanced with free Wi-Fi, multi-device charging stations, unique high-top community tables, classic Adirondack chairs and a variety of other seating options to accommodate different-sized groups. New uniforms for all Bojangles’ team members complete the updated look.
Company efforts are already underway to remodel three other existing Bojangles’ restaurants in the company’s hometown – Billy Graham Parkway near Charlotte-Douglas International Airport; South Tryon Street near Arrowood Road; and Steele Creek Road near I-485 in southwest Charlotte. Many of the design elements found in the prototypes will be incorporated into these projects.
