Kansas City’s Power & Light District is about to be treated to the culinary burger designs of BRGR Kitchen + Bar, and they’re about to love it. The fourth restaurant from Alan Gaylin’s Bread & Butter Concepts, and the second BRGR Kitchen & Bar, this restaurant will maintain the quality of food and service expected by those who frequent the original BRGR, in Prairie Village, and will up the ante with more a mature and refined set of American classics.
The opening in Power & Light has been a patiently awaited event, as Gaylin had plans to expand the BRGR brand almost from the beginning, but held off for the perfect spot. “It sounds cliché, but it really is about location. We were looking for the right spot, and when this opportunity came along it was clear that we had found it.”
The location, next door to Bristol Seafood Grill-Downtown, and under The Kill Devil Club, is a high-traffic corner in close proximity to Kansas City Live and the Sprint Center, with easy access from I-35. The high volume of foot traffic and destination diners makes it an ideal location for a restaurant of this caliber.
The menu will feature many of the same burgers from the original location, but will offer some additional small and large plates such as Gulf Oysters and Lobster Grilled Cheese. Additionally, two new burgers created by customers in Prairie Village and adapted by BRGR chefs, will appear on the menu: The Cinco de Mayo, with a Mexican flair, and the KC Butcher BRGR, featuring a slice of Hangar Steak.
A focus on fresh, local ingredients and conscientious suppliers played an important part in the planning of the restaurant. From the Black Angus Omega 3 chuck & short rib blend in the burgers to the optional Bison upgrade and organic fried egg on the Big Hoss Burger, BRGR Power & Light is clearly thinking of the customer and the community in their preparation and presentation.
In the libations department, the restaurant will offer an array of hand selected beers and wines as well as craft cocktails made to order.
The vibe in BRGR Power & Light will be relaxed and upbeat—a gathering place for Downtown Kansas City denizens and habitués—and will include rich textures, polished surfaces, tufted leather banquettes, and unique accent lighting and colors.
Power & Light District Executive Director Nick Benjamin is excited about the new addition and said, “BRGR adds another extremely high quality, chef-driven option on 14th Street and we know it will be a tremendous success like the other Bread & Butter concepts.”
BRGR Kitchen + Bar is excited to join the cool, hip places in the neighborhood, and will keep people returning with its comfortable surroundings and delicious American classics for the grown-up palate. “We’re really excited about bringing BRGR into this neighborhood. We know that it’s going to be a good fit,” said Gaylin.
