Buffalo Wild Wings, winner of scores of best wings and best sports bar awards, will make its first-ever debut in Detroit this November when it opens in the old Temple of Odd Fellows Building, at 1211 Randolph Street. The 18,400-square-foot historic building, built in 1874, is located on the corner of Randolph and Monroe Streets near the end of the Greektown Historic District in downtown Detroit. The Temple of Odd Fellows Building was selected for its prime location, which is steps away from Campus Martius Park and within walking distance of Greektown Casino, Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions and Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings. Construction on the project is set to begin in April, and the restaurant is expected to be open for business by November.
BWW will cater to sports fans as the premier venue to watch all of Detroit’s sporting events outside of the actual stadiums. Known as a city dedicated to its sports teams, Detroit was the ideal location for the bar and restaurant, which will seat 425 people and encompass two floors of the four story building, along with a 2,400 square-foot building to be erected to the north of the building. Plans to bring BWW to downtown Detroit are part of an exciting revitalization project that has investors and contractors working together to breathe new life into the city by focusing on rebuilding the downtown area.
“There’s so much energy and positivity surrounding future plans for the revitalization and rebuilding of downtown Detroit, and we wanted to be a part of it,” said Michael Ansley, CEO of Diversified Restaurant Holdings. “We’ve been working on plans to redevelop this property for more than three years, so I am thrilled to get the ball rolling on this exciting project.”
Ansley continued, “Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, the primary economic development organization for Detroit, has been extremely helpful and has been a pleasure to work with throughout this entire process.”
Plans for the restaurant call for the complete BWW experience to encompass the first floor, a banquet room to comprise the second floor and a rooftop patio bar to cater to sports fanatics during warmer months.
BWW is known for its 14 signature sauces, making its wings and other menu items customizable creations.
