Canadian Restaurant Chain Wok Box Expands With First U.S. Restaurant In Oregon

Wok Box, one of North America’s fastest growing quick-service restaurants, specializing in freshly cooked, quick and healthy Pan Asian cuisine, today announced the opening of its first U.S. location in Hillsboro, OR, just west of Portland. The new, contemporary restaurant offers a healthier alternative to traditional fast food, incorporating a delicious variety of GMO-free menu items that contain no trans-fat.

“After 10 years of success throughout Canada, we’re proud to expand Wok Box to the United States and make Hillsboro, Ore., our first home,” said Wok Box CEO, Scott Bender. “We are confident that Portland-area food enthusiasts will embrace our Fresh Asian Kitchen concept, with our freshly cooked healthy Pan Asian dishes that are prepared daily using high-quality, authentic spices and sauces. There is truly nothing like it in the local marketplace today.”

Patrons can enjoy tasty, signature items, such as Stir-fry Noodles, Rice and Curry Boxes, Banh Mi Sandwiches and seasonal creations by executive chef Don Letendre. The restaurant also offers several vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options for dine-in or take-out.

The 1,200 sq. ft. restaurant represents Wok Box’s 56th location worldwide and the company’s first quick-service restaurant venture in the U.S. The Hillsboro location is owned and operated by veteran franchisees Ron Elton and his son Michael, both of whom are long-time local residents.

“Wok Box’s commitment to healthy fresh cuisine attracted us to the brand,” said Wok Box Portland franchise co-owner, Michael Elton. “We’re excited to help bring this innovative, new restaurant concept to the Hillsboro community. We believe Wok Box will soon become a great, go-to destination for local residents–people who love ethnic food, health conscious individuals looking for robust, distinctive flavors and those who crave a quick and delicious, affordable meal.”

The Hillsboro, OR, Wok Box will be located at The Crossroads at Orenco Station, (7180 N.E. Cornell Road, between NE Cornell and NE Butler Street). Restaurant hours are Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wok Box has plans to open additional U.S. stores in 2012, including Phoenix, Arizona, and Tyler, Texas.
