There’s big plans in the work for the Captain D’s chain, but the CEO doesn’t want it called a comeback. Phil Greifeld is putting his money where his mouth is with a comprehensive plan to help the chain build on its recent success. While the chain was struggling in 2010 when he joined the team, it has now posted three straight years of same-store sales increases, leading to record-breaking sales.
Now that sales are rising rather than falling, Greifeld wants to keep building by increasing franchise numbers. 10 stores will open across the Southeast in 2015, including locations in key states like Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. The chain itself is headquartered in Nashville, so it’s not surprising that Tennessee is a major focus for growth with Captain D’s.
Plans also include expanding the number of corporate owned stores. Next month the chain will open its first company location in seven years. Once they better saturate the Southeastern market, they’re planning to continue expanding into the rest of the country in greater numbers.
