Leading Fast Casual Seafood Franchise Continues Development in the Volunteer State
Captain D’s, the leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced its newest franchised location in Cordova, Tennessee is officially open, marking the brand’s 72nd location in the state. This new restaurant emphasizes Captain D’s accelerated development plans for Tennessee, with three additional locations slated to open before the end of the year in Dayton, White House and Smyrna. Located at 1438 North Germantown Parkway, the Cordova restaurant is 2,500 square feet, showcases the brand’s most recent beach design and has created more than four-dozen jobs in the community.
The new Captain D’s in Cordova is owned and operated by Joe Springer, operating partner of Sonfish, LLC. An industry veteran, Springer brings more than 15 years of restaurant experience, specifically in the quick service segment. As one of the Captain D’s largest multi-unit operators, Springer and his partners currently operate restaurants across the Southeast in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi, with the Cordova restaurant marking the group’s 16th Captain D’s location.
“We opened our first Captain D’s in Memphis in 2009 and are eager to extend the brand’s high-quality seafood and warm service to more communities throughout Tennessee,” said Springer. “From the restaurant redesign to the implementation of healthier menu options, we’ve been impressed by the changes Captain D’s has made to elevate the customer experience. The compounding success stemming from those enhancements prove why Captain D’s is the leader in fast casual seafood and we are proud to be a part of its rapid expansion in Tennessee.”
Captain D’s expansion in Tennessee is fueled by the outstanding success the brand experienced in 2016, achieving its sixth consecutive year of same store sales increases and fourth successive year of record high system-wide average unit volume (AUV). This ongoing success has propelled Captain D’s franchise expansion, with agreements signed this year to open an additional 25 new restaurants in states across the country including Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Virginia.
Coupled with its ongoing menu innovation, Captain D’s credits its new restaurant beach design with contributing to the brand’s ongoing strong performance. To date, nearly 70 percent of all restaurants have been reimaged to the brand’s new vibrant, coastal design, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of this year. With these efforts, Captain D’s has remained true to what it does best — serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price in a welcoming atmosphere.
With 523 restaurants in 21 states, Captain D’s is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume. The company is currently seeking single- and multi-unit operators to join in the brand’s rapid expansion.
