Seafood leader surpasses donation goal of $100,000 to help end U.S. childhood hunger

Captain D's Raises $134,000 for No Kid HungryCaptain D’s, LLC, the leading fast casual seafood restaurant, is proud to announce that the company raised a total of $134,000 through its first year of participation in No Kid Hungry’s dine-out campaign. All told, Captain D’s has donated the equivalent of 1.34 million more meals for the 1 in 5 kids who struggles with hunger in the U.S. No Kid Hungry connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy and affordable meals, while raising national awareness of the childhood hunger epidemic.

“Captain D’s takes pride in its position as an industry leader and we’re always looking for ways to leverage our knowledge and educate consumers on the importance of wholesome meals,” said Phil Greifeld, Captain D’s chief executive officer. “For this first Dine Out for No Kid Hungry campaign, we set an internal goal to raise $100,000 and ended up surpassing that by more than $30,000! I’m so proud to be part of a team that puts such a big emphasis on giving back to the communities we serve.”

During the one-month initiative, Captain D’s locations across the country sold fundraiser cards for one dollar, inclusive of $10 worth of Captain D’s coupons. Every dollar raised translates into 10 meals for a child in need in America. On November 4, Captain D’s CEO Phil Greifeld and Senior Director of Brand Marketing Dawn Foster presented no Kid Hungry with a check for $134,000 at the company’s headquarters in Nashville. Since its launch in 2008, participating restaurants have raised $28 million in support of No Kid Hungry to help ensure every kid gets three meals a day.

With 513 restaurants in 23 states, Captain D’s is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume. Captain D’s recently unveiled a new design featuring a vibrant coastal atmosphere and improved the dining experience with new plate ware and silverware.
