Captain D’s franchisees and corporate management gathered in Atlanta to celebrate another year of record-breaking sales and to honor the people who have played a key role in the seafood chain’s successes.
The convention, which was held in Atlanta on June 8-10, 2014, attracted hundreds of people, including franchisees, prospective franchisees and business partners. Four-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Terry Bradshaw entertained and motivated franchisees during his keynote speech.
Captain D’s Convention also included a life-sized model of the company’s new restaurant re-image that resembles a fresh, contemporary seaside destination. The “Beach Design” also includes new menu boards, new dinnerware, and a newly reformulated equipment line.
In addition to experiencing Captain D’s new ambiance, convention goers were able to enjoy D’s New Fired Grilled menu, as well as dozens of items from the company’s extensive menu innovation pipeline. Recent product innovation, coupled with the restaurant re-image and award-winning marketing campaigns, has led to tremendous growth for the D’s brand.
“Captain D’s has now posted three straight years of same-store sales increases, leading to record-breaking sales. Our compounding sales momentum has garnered the attention of multi-unit operators throughout the industry,” noted Phil Greifeld, President and CEO. Captain D’s has recently enhanced its focus on franchise development, leading to the addition of several high-profile franchisees, such as Michael Knobelock who owns 47 Church’s Chicken and 21 Little Caesars restaurants.
“The great return-on-investment new stores – both corporate and franchise – are experiencing is attracting some great franchisees from other brands to Captain D’s. It’s even more exciting because none of the markets we operate in are fully saturated, so the opportunity for these franchisees is terrific from both a financial and geographic perspective,” Greifeld added.
The fast casual seafood chain, which is celebrating 45 years in business, also took time to honor Lou McLennan, the company’s very first franchisee. The Awards Ceremony also highlighted the recent successes of several franchisees.
Award winners for the 2014 convention include:
- Operator of the Year: David Simmons and Michael Tidwell of SPFS, Inc
- Unit Developer of the Year: Jim and Val McClure of VJM Seafood
- Hall of Fame Inductee: Lee Cole
“Our amazing franchisees and employees deserve a great deal of credit for making Captain D’s such a successful fast-casual brand,” said Captain D’s CEO Phil Greifeld. “It is an honor to celebrate our 45 years of business, especially when our recent success and growth proves we have a bright future in front of us.”
