A JAJA Tequila Launch Party, huge celebrity merch giveaways, party lounges, food and drink specials, DJs, and more
Since its first Valley location opened in 2011 in Old Town Scottsdale, Barrio Queen has been drawing locals, visitors, and professional athletes alike. Touted as “a true taste of the Valley” for its authentic, award-winning Mexican food; extensive drink menus, including 300+ tequilas and mezcals; and vibrant atmosphere, the hot spot destination is getting ready for the Big Game week in a big way, upping its reputation as a “must-not-miss Valley locale” even further. Celebrity events and tequilas, party lounges, food and drink specials, DJs, and amazing giveaways will all be part of the festivities.
From Monday, Feb. 6 through Sun., Feb. 12, Barrio Queen will host its Big Game Week Event at all seven of its Valley locations (Scottsdale, Desert Ridge Marketplace, Glendale, Avondale, Gilbert, Tempe, and Queen Creek) with food and drink specials, giveaways, music, and more.
Both its Old Town Scottsdale and Desert Ridge Marketplace locations will have additional experiences, with JAJA Tequila hosting the Valley’s first-ever JAJA Tequila Official “Arizona Launch Party” and JAJA Tequila and Taco Lounge at Barrio Queen. JAJA Tequila is co-owned by GRAMMY Award-winning duo Alex Pall and Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers. The event will include DJs, drink specials, specialty cocktails and shooters, free swag, live grilling, and an outdoor lounge with grab-and-go drinks and tacos. Guests can also scan to win prizes – including two bottles autographed by The Chainsmokers!
And, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Teremana tequila will also be spotlighted at all locations during the Teremana Happy Hour, Mon.-Fri from 2-5 p.m. During that time, guests can order The People’s Margarita + Two Tacos (non-premium tacos only) for just $14. The People’s Margarita, featuring Teremana Blanco Tequila, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice, and agave nectar) will also be available for $10. And, El Bandido Yankee Tequila, owned by former NFL player Jim Bob Morris and former NHL player Chris Chelios, will also be featured throughout Barrio Queen’s event. Guests can order the TPC (The Perfect Cocktail), which is made with El Bandido Yankee Blanco, pomegranate juice, jamaica agua fresca, lime juice, agave nectar, Ancho Reyes, and garnished with black salt, Tajin, and chile de arbol. The drink is $13.
As Barrio Queen is all about also giving back to the communities it is part of, the events will benefit Fore The Kids, a 502(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting local children’s charities in the Phoenix area (www.forethekidsaz.com).
Barrio Queen has become a must-stop-in destination in the Valley since it opened. It now features seven locations throughout the Valley, each of which serves its fresh, authentic cuisine made using traditional recipes from barrios of Mexico and family recipes. In addition to its food, it’s known for its unique drinks, extensive tequila and mezcal menus, private tequila tasting rooms, and expansive patios. The décor is based on Día de Los Muertos – the Day of the Dead – and immerses guests in its ambiance with gorgeous, original murals painted by a renowned, local artist.
Popular for its parties and events as well as its food and drinks, Barrio Queen has earned a loyal local and visitor following; has appeared on The Food Network, including being featured on the network’s “The Best Thing I’ve Ever Ate” for its table side guacamole; and won awards such as Best Guacamole by USA TODAY, Best New Restaurant by ESQUIRE, Best Table Side Guacamole by TRAVEL + LEISURE, Best of Phoenix Skinny Chola Margarita by Phoenix New Times, and Best Street Tacos by 3 TV News.
