CHART to Honor White Castle CEO Lisa Ingram with Commitment to People Award

The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) (www.chart.org) is proud to announce that Lisa Ingram, CEO and President of White Castle, is the recipient of their 2016 Commitment to People Award. Ingram will be honored at the Commitment to People Awards Gala on Monday evening, August 1, during CHART’s 92nd semi-annual Hospitality Training Conference to be held at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, SC.

“Created in 1993, this prestigious award is given annually to a CHART member’s CEO/president in the hospitality industry who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the development of his or her associates,” explained Jason Lyon, CHART president and founder/president of Boondocks Hip Venture. Lyon added, “Lisa’s strong leadership style and hands-on approach to create a culture where growth, development, and opportunity for the people of White Castle is what sets her apart.”

“Lisa’s leadership continues a four generation strong family commitment to putting our people first and making good decisions for the long haul,” shared John Kelley, Chief People Officer, White Castle.

Ingram has been with White Castle since 2000, working her way to the presidency of the company co-founded by her great-grandfather in 1921. She holds a BBA from Southern Methodist University and a MBA from The Ohio State University.

In the award application, her team offered countless examples which demonstrate her dedication to ensure team members are rewarded well for their efforts with strong employee benefits and opportunities as well as training programs and tools they need to grow personally and professionally and in a manner that serves customers and communities well.

CHART’s Selection Committee reviews and ranks the Commitment to People nominees in four categories:

  • Effective communication of the organization’s culture
  • Programs that demonstrate a commitment to people
  • Efforts to be involved in the development of people
  • Ability to break down barriers to create opportunities
