Fast-Casual Restaurant Concept’s Foundation Holds Check Presentations at Montgomery Cancer Center and Cancer Center at EAMC

Chicken Salad Chick Foundation Donates $20,000 to Local Cancer Centers Through "Teeing off on Cancer" Golf ClassicThe Chicken Salad Chick Foundation (CSCF), the non-profit organization affiliated with Chicken Salad Chick, the nation’s only southern inspired, fast casual chicken salad restaurant concept, announced today the donation of $20,000 to the Montgomery Cancer Center and the Cancer Center at East Alabama through it’s third annual “Teeing off on Cancer” Golf Classic. The CSCF presented a check for $10,000 to the Montgomery Cancer Center on Nov. 17, and the Cancer Center at East Alabama was presented with a $10,000 check on Nov. 28. Both centers have benefited from the CSCF’s “Teeing off on Cancer” Golf Classic since the event’s inception in 2014.

“The Chicken Salad Chick Foundation’s mission – fighting cancer and feeding the hungry – hits very close to home, so we couldn’t be more pleased to donate proceeds to two cancer centers that have been valued partners of ours for three years,” said Stacy Brown, Chicken Salad Chick Foundation founder. “Our Golf Classic is not only about raising awareness for cancer, but also the importance of giving back and its impact on the local community. We’re honored to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives and families of those fighting cancer and hope to continue this tradition for years to come.”

The CSCF hosted its third annual “Teeing off on Cancer” Golf Classic at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. A total of 26 teams, 100 participants and more than 30 volunteers attended the event, which was sponsored by several companies and organizations, including Hotel and Restaurant Supply and Reinhart Food Service. Sponsors, golfers and volunteers interested in participating next year can contact Barclay Smith, the CSCF director, at barclay.smith@chickensaladchick.com.

The Chicken Salad Chick Foundation was established by Stacy Brown and her late husband Kevin in June of 2014 after Kevin’s cancer diagnosis. As the founders of the Chick Salad Chick restaurant concept, they knew very early on they would have the opportunity to positively impact many lives. The Foundation provides funding to help eliminate cancer as a major health problem, to support cancer centers and organizations, and to provide food for hungry people through support of food banks and their various programs.

The Chicken Salad Chick concept, born in Auburn, Ala., was established in 2008 in the kitchen of founder, Stacy Brown. When Stacy discovered that the local county health department would not allow her to continue making and selling her delicious recipes out of her home kitchen, she overcame that obstacle by launching her first restaurant with the business expertise of her future husband and fellow founder, Kevin Brown. Together, they opened a small takeout restaurant, which quickly grew; the company now has more than 60 restaurants across the Southeast.
