“Gainesville residents are in for a treat as we prepare to introduce them to our delicious menu of Chicken Salad Chick flavors,” said Mark Singletary, Gainesville Chicken Salad Chick franchisee and president of Singletary Smith Group, LLC. “We’re proud to partner with the United Way to celebrate Gainesville’s first Chicken Salad Chick restaurant, and we look forward to serving the Gainesville community for many years to come.”
Prior to Chicken Salad Chick, Singletary was living and working in New Orleans when he decided it was time for a change. He made his way to Auburn, Ala., where his daughter and son-in-law, Lauryn and Cope Smith, introduced him to their good friends, Stacy and Kevin Brown, founders of Chicken Salad Chick. After a bit of conversation, Singletary decided to invest in the company and opened his first location in Destin, Fla. After successfully launching the restaurant, Singletary sold the Destin location and decided to open a new restaurant in Gainesville.
The Chicken Salad Chick concept, born in Auburn, Ala., was established in 2008 in the kitchen of founder, Stacy Brown. When Stacy discovered that the local county health department would not allow her to continue making and selling her delicious recipes out of her home kitchen, she overcame that obstacle by launching her first restaurant with the business expertise of her future husband and fellow founder, Kevin Brown. Together, they opened a small takeout restaurant, which quickly grew; the company now has 43 restaurants across the Southeast.
